I build baroque trebles in two models and in two pitches.
The Stanesby copy
These instruments are based on a Stanesby Sr. recorder in the Frans Bryggen collection with an original pitch of a=406 Hz.
I build two versions, one transposed to the common baroque pitch of a=415 Hz, and one to the modern pitch of a= 440 Hz.
In addition to the transposition I have made a minor change of the bore in order to achieve a more convenient intonation of the high e and f.
The Arvidsson original baroque alto BA440
These instruments have a new type of bore, developed by me, and an external design preserved from Stanesby. The intension with the new bore was to achieve better equality in timbre and attack (see Arvidsson bore), and I venture to say it is success.
The instruments can be made with double or single holes, and built in either European boxwood or grenadilla.
